There is no single official eligibility test for a debt management plan (DMP); it may be suitable if you have unsecured debts and can afford a regular payment after essential living costs. A free debt adviser will review your income, spending, debts and priority bills, then work out whether a DMP is appropriate and what payment might be affordable. DMPs are usually informal, so creditors do not have to accept the proposal and interest or charges may continue.
